만안구 어린이도서관 설계공모

By hybridizing architecture, urbanism and landscape, Manan-gu Children’s Library is a proposal for designing a children’s library in Manan-gu, Anyang. To design spaces for children, we propose two important design concepts – first, floating architecture in the air for urban connectivity, second, multi-layered spaces to accommodate diverse activities in the library. In terms of program, we integrate the library spaces with book and entertainment as a playground that children and their parents can mingle in one place together. Our designs – floating mass that looks like bookshelves of the library as pixelated envelope, extruded windows for the urban reactions, multi-layered interior spaces, maximize the architectural and cultural potentials in this place, by hybridizing those elements.
만안구 어린이도서관은 건축과 도시, 랜드스케이프를 융합한 경기도 안양시 만안구의 어린이도서관을 설계하는 프로젝트이다. 우리는 어린이를 위한 공간을 디자인하기 위해 도시적인 소통을 위해 매스를 공중에 띄우는 것과 도서관 내부에서 다양한 활동을 담을 수 있는 멀티 레이어의 공간을 디자인하는 두 가지의 공간적 컨셉을 제안하였다. 프로그램적으로는 단순한 도서관이 아닌, 책과 놀이, 엔터테인먼트를 결합하여 어린이와 어른이 함께 어울릴 수 있는 새로운 개념의 어린이도서관을 구현하였다. 부유하는 매스와 함께 도서관의 책장을 픽셀화한 입면, 도시와 반응하는 돌출형 창문, 멀티 레이어로 구성된 인테리어 공간은 이 장소가 가진 건축적, 문화적 잠재력을 융합한 계획안이다.
