Banwol Void Retail building is a project that we study a new architectural possiblity on the corner site. Site is located within just 50 meters away from the Banwol station, and client requires retail and office programs. As we do the research for the feasibility and architectural code, we have concluded that it is able to build up three stories building, related to the number of parking space requirement. Then, we proceeds to design the trapezoid shape volume that conforms the form of the parcel. While making the south part like wavy or fluctuating walls for the spatial function, we subtract the corner volume in order to create a strong architectural identity on the corner. On the void space, we put the terrace space so that interior and exterior spaces are connected with each other, and the facade is composed of simple shape and same rectangular windows like colonnade – giving unique monumentality on the corner. In conclusion, with our new architectural approach on the corner site, we look forward the architecture to having potential of future development and current commercial values of area of near Banwol station.

반월역 근린생활시설은 코너 대지의 새로운 건축적 가능성에 대해 탐구한 프로젝트이다. 사이트는 4호선 반월역에서 약 50m 내외에 위치한 역세권 대지면서 사거리 코너에 위치해 있다. 클라이언트측에서 요구한 프로그램은 근린생활시설. 우리는 건축법규 및 사업성 검토를 통해 사이트에 총 3개층의 건물을 지을 수 있다는 결론을 내렸다. 작은 대지에 최대 면적을 만들고 주차대수를 확보하기 위함이었다. 또한 비정형의 대지에 어떠한 건축형태와 입면이 어울릴 수 있을지에 대한 스터디를 진행하였다. 여러가지 계획안 중에서 대지의 형상을 따라 만들어지는 자연스러운 사다리꼴의 매스를 채택하였다. 사다리꼴의 매스는 반월역 방향으로 뾰족한 모서리를 가지게 되었고 후면부는 파동벽처럼 디자인하여 공간기능에 문제가 없도록 만들었다. 이는 역세권에서의 정체성에 잘 어울리는 형태였다. 또한 가장 중요한 부분인 코너 부분에 보이드 공간을 만들어 코너 부분에 강력한 건축적 아이덴티티를 부여하였다. 비워진 공간에는 테라스 공간을 만들어 내외부 공간이 소통하도록 하였고 정형적인 입면 디자인을 통해 주변 컨텍스트와 어우러지도록 디자인하였다. 직사각형의 반복되는 개구부는 마치 코너를 지탱하는 열주와 같이 디자인하여 코너 부분에 독특한 기념비성을 부여하였다. 우리의 반월역 근린생활시설 건축디자인은 반월역의 미래 개발 가능성과 현재 상업적 가치를 잘 담고 있는 건축이 될 것으로 기대한다.
